A collection of installs from Early Spring - Summer 2024

During the spring and early summer, the team have been busy installing James Hardie Fibre cement cladding system to a number of properties across the duchy. Our new Ali Fit profile range really does make our cladding stand out. Concealed cut edges, clean sightlines and a smooth aluminium finish are what these new profiles have to offer; taking the attention to detail on our installations to another level.

1) 3 properties were cladded in Penwithick Park, St Austell for a commercial management company to reduce the maintenance required with re-painting due to a rendering system suffering with efflorescence. Pictured 1,2,3 and 4. A very successful outcome and a very pleased client!

2)Heathered Moss Green was installed to a property in Shortlanesend, Truro (pictured 5 and 6) to replace timber shingles. The team also installed all new fascias, soffits and gutters on low elevations and on the gable end. A fantastic transformation which compliments this property’s abundant growth of plants extremely well. This customer was exceptionally pleased with our work.

3) Due to popular demand, Kraft Cladding Cornwall have added rendering & double glazing services to their range of home installation work. For this client in Trevean Way Newquay, Kraft Cladding offered a complete package: cladding top elevations & rendering bottom elevations. The client was seeking a full package from us, from which we appointed competent rendering contractors who have produced an outstanding finish. K-rend in white was installed to all elevations, with Light Mist JH plank fitted to all upper elevations. As a cladding company it is our priority that customer satisfaction comes first, and our rendering services are no exception. All work is fully guaranteed, along side manufacture warrantees of 15 years! This client was very pleased with the service we provided. (Pic 6 and 7)

4) 2x Cabins/Holiday Homes. Finished in stunning Cobblestone & Anthracite Grey.

Our sister company www.thewindowanddoorstore.co.uk fitted all new residential doors, French doors and casement windows to provide sufficient cill overhang for our FC cladding system. These properties also showcase our new AliFit profile range which comes as standard on all of our installations to perfectly finish the cladding. Due to these properties being timber framed, adding cladding is a cost effective way to enhance the appearance, but to also protect the timber structure from weathering, and in the modern climate to increase thermal efficiency. 25mm GRP insulation board was added to these properties to reduce costs on energy bills. Over the years, we have had very good feedback about how effective our cladding systems have been at insulating properties - even without inserting insulation in the timber frame! Two very successful installs!

These clients have also left us positive reviews which can be seen above. Thank you for your kind reviews.

End23/Early2024

A range of properties cladded by the team from Autumn 2023 to Early 2024.

Owletts Barn B&B St Tudy, C54 Pewter Lap

This client was seeking a replacement for the timber cladding on their B&B which was starting to rot and fade over time. We were appointed to remove all existing timber cladding and replace with a fibre cement cladding system in Cedral C54. This client was very pleased with the outcome and left us a positive review on Google.

St Austell Blackpool House, Lanjeth - 130m2 C76 Tea Green Lap

During Nov- Dec 23, we installed C76 tea Green Cedral shiplap system to all elevations to this property in st Austell which was looking for a facelift from the original pebbledash finish. After 4 weeks of hard work, the team and client, both got the result that they were looking for.

Two trees Wadebridge-

Full property called in Light Oak Cedral whilst removing all existing timber cladding. Juliet balconies removed and reinstated on rear elevation. This client looked at fibre cement cladding as an alternative to the original larch timber which was requiring frequent maintenance. This client now doesn’t need to treat the timber every 6 months, and can therefore enjoy a very low maintenance facade in Cedral 106 lap.

2 properties cladded, James Hardie Fibre cement cladding system. NOV-DEC24 Perranporth & Porthtowan

We are proud to now be James Hardie Approved Contractors, joining the JH preferred contractor list for the south west. We are now the only cladding company in Cornwall to be JH approved.

What makes the James Hardie system standout? 8mm boards compared to 11mm significantly reduces the weight of the boards, making James Hardie the most suitable fibre cement to timber framed applications. Eye catching aluminium closure profiles provide an outstanding finish; optimising the attention to detail on our installations- just take a look below!

15 year manufacturers warranty, option of cedar and smooth colour ranges and a market finest fire resistance rating make our James Hardie a very popular system for commercial and residential properties.

Summer 2023- 3 properties located in St Tudy and Connor Downs, Hayle.

This client in St Tudy was seeking a maintenance free solution to the front elevations of their bungalow, as the existing render was failing. In particular, they were looking for a cladding system that finished flush on the wall without the presence of an overlap. A composite system was what Mr and Mrs Sheriff were leaning towards, however we advised Cedral Click due to the system’s outstanding life expectancy, opposed to composite which tends to be only guarantee for a limited time. After several samples and viewing different properties, this client chose Cedral Click Grey with C18 dark grey corners which set off the light grey extremely well. New cill extensions were installed on both elevations, with planks fitted into the reveals on both. A very smart finish and another property that looks like new in St Tudy!

Kraft Cladding were contacted early this year to survey two properties that were exhibiting the same issues: damp penetrating through the existing render >2.2m up from ground level due to the property being constructed with H ‘single blockwork’ in Connor Downs, Hayle. Cladding is an extremely versatile system, and having successfully completed properties exactly like this before, we were confident that this would be the solution to ensure the property becomes water tight. A vapour barrier was installed first on all elevations, following timber, dpc and then all profiles to accommodate C18 Cedral Cladding. As well as providing protection to the elements, the cladding has provided an outstanding facelift !

Both of these clients have left us positive reviews which can be seen above. Thank you for your kind reviews.

Early- Late Spring 2023. Properties cladded in Fowey, Falmouth and St Tudy.

The team cladded a few properties in spring of this year, with these properties above just to highlight a few.

In Fowey, the team cladded a full bungalow covering all three elevations in C51 silver Grey wood grain shiplap. This customer was seeking a maintenance free solution to the tiring paintwork which constantly needed replenishment. With asymmetrical and connection profiles fitted into the reveals, this property drew a lot of attention from people working by and this customer was very pleased with the finish.

In Falmouth, this client was again looking to modernise his 1900 build property. He was looking to clad from the ground level up to the apex/soffit line, and our advice was to potentially break up the colours by going ‘two tone’. This customer then chose Grey Green on the bottom half of the property, and white at the top. Both colours complimented each other extremely well and produced a fantastic end result. After completing the front of the property in winter 2023, this customer was very pleased and we therefore returned in late spring to complete the rear and a full composite decking system.

St Tudy: The team completed three gable ends in James Hardie Plank Smooth Anthracite Grey. Mr and Mrs Fulcher were looking for a smooth finish opposed to wood grain so we then advised James Hardie as a solution opposed to Cedral. After receiving samples, our customer was set on JH and we installed these three gables during April time. This customer was so pleased that they left us a very kind review (16/04/23):

Gentle Dental practice Mylor Bridge, Falmouth (Feb 23). James Hardie plank system wood grain.

The team commenced work at the Gental dental practice in Mylor in February 2023, using James Hardie plank in boothbay blue. This client was seeking a modernisation of the commercial property, but most importantly looking to enhance the thermal performance of the cavity walls. We installed 50mm insulation sheets between the timber frame. It is always a good opportunity for the team to work on a commercial property to showcase that our cladding range has a vast variety of applications and purposes, and most importantly that we are competent team that can comfortably work on residential and commercial properties. A fast turnaround, thermal efficient and weather proof solution for Gentle Dental Falmouth.

Cedral Shiplap C51 Falmouth (Feb-March23)

Further supporting cladding as a fully weather proof solution in Cornwall, this client wanted our Cedral FC cladding range to be installed due to its ability to protect the vulnerable thin render coated wall behind. This client had an extension built a few years ago with a render that had low resistance to Cornwall’s atmospheric agents, and therefore a few years down the line it has become porous, absorbing water and infiltrating into their conservatory beneath. Upon survey we discussed a few options, and we addressed that a breathable vapour barrier would be required as well as other WPC techniques in order to prevent any water ingressing. Following this the cladding system would then provide a 100% solution . Fast forward a few weeks and the water ingression has been eradicated all due to our fibre cement cladding system! A very pleasing outcome and a fix to an issue that has been ongoing for many years!

A collection of two properties that the team cladded (DEC22-JAN23). Goonhavern (Blue shiplap) and Ruddlemoor, St Austell (Grey shiplap).

Both of these properties were cladded for a mutual reason: to eradicate water penetrating through the exterior single block wall, and to subsequently prevent the property from experiencing condensation/mould on the interior. Cladding, most commonly installed for aesthetic reasons across Cornwall, is an extremely versatile system. Our fibre cement cladding ranges are a complete weatherproof solution balancing the requirement for ventilation and protection from the elements extremely well.

10mm thick planks, factory applied weathershield paint, DPC and a breathable membrane provide extreme resistance to the elements which is why we are commonly installing our cladding on properties with failing render/single block cavity walls. These two homeowners were considering re-rendering, however Cladding is the no1 solution to interior damp/condensation not only does it stop the contact between the elements and the wall, but it also creates layers, generating warmth and reducing convection currents which causes mould to form.

We were very pleased with both installations, and so were these clients. Both of these clients have left us a positive review. (Thank you Peter on GMB page).

Cedral C07 shiplap system, (Cream white), Killyvader way, St Austell. All elevations (NOV22)

After completing a job in this road a couple of years ago, the client recommended us to this customer as she was very pleased with the outcome and transformation of our cladding.

This client was seeking a maintenance free solution to the upper elevation of her property due to peeling render that has been exposed to Cornwall’s harsh elements over the years, and re-painting was no longer a viable option. We explained that the cladding would transform, modernise and protect her property and pointed the customer in the direction of a fibre cement solution as this is the most cost effective in the long term and a solution that will provide complete resistance to the surrounding elements for a projected 50 years. We always provide a 10 year guarantee on every installation for complete peace of mind as we are very confident that all the materials we use will not fail in performance wise.

Cream white was chosen by this customer, and as there were originally aging slate window cills that were too shallow, we suggested that golden oak cills would be perfect to firstly pair with the windows, but secondly provide a fantastic contrast between the windows and the cladding. The cream white complements the cream fibre cement cladding effortlessly well and drew attention from many neighbours. The homeowners have since painted the bottom half white which provides the icing on the cake! This customer was extremely pleased with our workmanship and the work carried out. A beautiful transformation!

Cedral C51 Silver-Grey (Mid Oct22, Belhay, Penryn)

After completing a project in Bohelland road, Penryn in spring this year, this client was extremely impressed with the transformation that the fibre cement cladding brought to the property. We were contacted and then conducted a survey according to their requirements.

This customer was looking for a maintenance free top half of their property (7m to the apex), and we explained fibre cement cladding isn’t always the cheapest option, however it is a system that has a 50 year life expectancy and is therefore a fantastic investment in the long term. As carpenters we have also installed composite systems, which only provide 8 years life expectancy and in certain climates the system is vulnerable to expansion and contraction.

The work took approximately 1.5 weeks to complete and we were really pleased with the final product. We finished the window reveals with connection profiles to conceal any cut edges which had added to the clean aesthetic of the cladding. This customer was extremely pleased and left us a review which can be viewed here: https://cornishtraders.com/listings/kraft-cladding-cornwall/

Cedral fibre cement C15, Fascia and rainwater system, Halgavor Rd, Bodmin. (Sept - Oct) 22

This client in Bodmin was firstly seeking maintenance free gable ends, and secondly a weatherproof and long lasting solution to protect the dormers on the front and rear elevation. As our fibre cement systems has a life expectancy of over 50 years, we explained that it would be a very good investment for what they were looking for whereas alternative composite systems typically need replacing/attention in 10 years. The customer chose Cedral, dark grey, on all elevations. After removing the white pvc hollow clad, the rear elevation required various different timber sizes to ensure that it was plumb. A vapour barrier was installed to provide further protection to the 4 x 2 timbers behind, with a new fascia and guttering system being installed too. This client was really pleased with the workmanship and finish of the cladding which has provided another eye catching transformation!

Cedral Click Woodgrain C51 Fibre cement cladding, Luxulyan, Bodmin, 100m2. (July - Aug22)

We supplied and installed Cedral Click tongue and groove system to this client’s outbuildings in July this year. This client was seeking a maintenance free facade to replace the existing rendering which was suffering from efflorescence. The client was seeking an alternative solution to the render which required painting/attention frequently. C51 Cedral Click was what the client chose, which has provided a magnificent transformation. We also replaced the red copping stones with stunning Natural Slate Sills in graphite grey to provide sufficient overhang on all 8 elevations. This client was very pleased with the transformation as were we.

Cedral Shiplap C10- Tintagel, Cornwall (Jun- July 22)

Kraft Cladding Cornwall supplied and installed fibre cement shiplap cladding to all 3 gable ends of this property as the customer was, like many previous clients, seeking a solution to the eave elevations that required re-painting year after year due to this property’s very close proximity to the coast. Upon survey we suggested that fibre cement cladding would be the most effective solution due to its outstanding properties: fire resistant, warp resistant and a 50 year life expectancy to name a few. We install every system with marine grade stainless steel which is so vital in Cornwall particularly to prevent any fixings from rusting/degrading in time. Choosing fibre cement doesn’t just provide a fantastic modernisation of a property, it also provides outstanding protection to your home that lasts for years and years to come.

Cedral Fibre cement C18 Slate Grey Shiplap - 200m2, Polstrong, Jun2022

This client in Polstrong, Camborne was looking for a maintenance free facade on all 4 elevations from the bellcast to the soffit line. With 14 open eaves each side of the property, the top row of cladding required notching 28 times to ensure the cladding was water tight underneath this customer’s soffit which came with its challenges in the Jubilee heatwave! With 4 different water/soil pipes on the rear elevation, a local plumbing company were contracted to ensure the cladding was finished as neat as possible around the rear pipes; which required the extension of 3/4 pipes. With the roofline and window cills being slightly too short, the team installed an anthracite Grey verge on both gable ends to match with the cladding, and as per the customers request the window cills were extended using Pvc oak, which complement the windows whilst also providing a fantastic contrast to the cladding. Another really striking transformation!

Cedral Shiplap system C05 and White Fascias + rainwater system, Penryn, Cornwall. (Apr- May 22)

We supplied installed Etex Cedral fibre cement shiplap system to this property in Penryn, Cornwall. As this property’s gable apex was 10.8 metres from ground level, 3/4 lift heights were required for the team to install the cladding.

This client was looking for a maintenance free facade that would withstand the test of time, given the property’s close proximity to the coast. He was also looking for a maintenance free option for the fascias, which were previously timber. This customer wanted Cedral cladding as it could not only modernise the property, but also enable the property’s facade to become maintenance free for the long-term future. A continuous verge was required on the gable ends to ensure the cladding was water tight underneath the under- cloaking as the roofline was shallow up to a couple of inches in places, and boards were fitted into the reveals using asymmetrical box sections. Overall, an amazing transformation that caught the attention of many people walking by!

Cedral Shiplap system C18, Bodmin, Cornwall (Feb-March)

Kraft Cladding supplied and installed Cedral Shiplap system C18 to this property in Bodmin. After completing cladding work on the bungalow adjacent to this property in August 2021, this homeowner got in touch and was interested in having their house cladded. The customer requested that the cladding started 500mm below the existing bellcast to tie in with the lead flashing over the rear conservatory, as they had previously been having issues with water ingressing in this junction. This customer also requested that we finished the reveals in white as he wanted to contrast the C18 slate grey colour with the existing white fascias which we feel was a really good choice! We also installed a bespoke continuous verge on the gable elevation to ensure the cladding was water tight as the existing slated roofline was too shallow. Overall we were really pleased with how the project turned out, and was this customer!

Cedral Shiplap C01 White system woodgrain, Falmouth, Cornwall, Jan22

This client in Falmouth was experiencing issues with dampness on the interior walls of their landing. They were looking for cladding to prevent the condensation they were experiencing, which was mainly due to how porous the exterior render was - diagnosed upon survey. We then suggested that the cladding is installed with Celotex insulation behind to prevent the cold air and the warm air meeting. The team then double battened (horizontally and vertically) with Celotex insulation and a breathable membrane. C01 white Cedral shiplap system was then installed as required, and due to the reveal size being >250 the client requested white reveal liners to provide a clean finish opposed to 2 Cedral boards in the reveals, which complemented the false fascias mitred at 45 at the top of the facade really well. Our fascias team then installed white pvc fascias and guttering on all elevations later that month. We were very pleased with the outcome of both the cladding and the fascias, as was this customer in Falmouth.

Cedral Shiplap system, C06 Grey-Green, All elevations (DEC 21-Jan 22)

In December 2021, we supplied and installed 110 Cedral shiplap boards to this elegant property in St Austell, Cornwall. This beautiful cottage was built over 100 years ago, which meant that few exterior walls were square and as such many of our 38 x 75 battens required shims, and in some areas double battening was required. Once the first fix work was complete, the installation of the fibre cement boards commenced and we could quickly see how well suited the system was to the property. We always try to complete elevations with the least amount of joins, and if possible without any! The front of this property consisted of many sections <3.6m wide which allowed us to do that, providing a clean finish. We finished the cladding with vertical boards in the reveals, with asymmetrical aluminium box section trims. The homeowners were very happy with the work, and as the property is situated on a busy main road, the team received many positive comments from pedestrians walking by. With the homeowner painting the bottom half white later on this year, the property will look really striking!

Cedral Shiplap system, C51 Silver Grey - all four elevations and 3 x dormers (Late OCT - Late NOV 21) Newquay.

Kraft Cladding supplied and installed 100m2 worth of Cedral shiplap weatherboards to this property in Newquay, Cornwall. All existing concrete hanging tiles were removed from the 3 x dormers as required, with new timber framing being installed (plus 25mm insulation) with a breathable membrane, 38 x 50/75 battens, and all associated trims. On the ground floor elevations, all timbers were notched to level above window heads and on the bellcasts. The silver grey boards have really complemented the property’s coastal location, our customers were really pleased with our installation and the transformation of the property.

Cedral Shiplap System C02, Beige, Helston, Cornwall. October 21

In July this year we cladded two adjacent properties in Helston in Cedral Click system C15, after completion one customer expressed their interest in having a fibre cement cladding system installed due to the pebbledash on the front elevation seeping water into the plaster on the inside of the property. We installed C02 beige shiplap system with asymmetrical corner trim profiles to enable fixing of vertical planks in the reveals with colour coded screws. We were extremely pleased with the transformation, as was our customer as not only has her front elevation become entirely weatherproof, she can now enjoy a facade that will look as good as the day of installation for years and years to come.

Cedral shiplap system and bespoke continuous verge system, C05, September 21

At this property in Porthtowan, we supplied and installed 35m2 worth of Cedral cladding in C05 Grey as the existing rendering was taking a bit of a bartering due to the property’s very close proximity to the sea. Due to the properties shallow roofline, a common problem in Cornwall, we took the decision to have a bespoke made continuous verge system to not just finish the cladding but to also ensure that the system is water tight and ventilated. We were really pleased with the minimalistic finish compared to other alternatives like a false fascia etc, and we are very glad the customer was too. What makes the fibre cement system a very attractive option is it’s ability to withstand Cornwall’s harsh elements, particularly in the winter time, which is why this property with its coastal location was the perfect fit for our fibre cement cladding systems.

Cedral shiplap system C18 Slate Grey, Summercourt, Newquay. (Mid August 2021)

Many properties in cornwall come with their challenges: whether it be walls that are significantly out of level or difficulties with roofline overhang, as carpenters we take pride in making our work not just aesthetically pleasing but also making sure our work will withstand the test of time. This cottage was built over 100 years ago and the west side elevation’s rendering was significantly out of level. Our installers were 10 runs up on the side elevation when one of our installers, Glen, made the decision to take all of the cladding down on the side elevation as he wasn’t satisfied with the straightness of the boards. When the customer found out that the runs on the side elevation were being taken down he was shocked and surprised as he said it wasn’t noticeable, however Glen was unsatisfied with his work and took the boards off, and strung 5 stringlines at 600mm heights to ensure that any imperfections in the render that were affecting the contour of the boards were no longer present by using shims in various areas. When cladding a side wall we use a string line at 3 different heights to ensure all battens are upright level however when the rendering is so disproportionate and out of level sometimes more lines are to be strung and on this occasion one our installers felt this was the case in order to overcome the frequent blooms/imprecations in the rendering. At the end the customer said that he could notice the difference and was extremely impressed with the standard of workmanship; we always want to make sure that our customers are 100% satisfied and this customer was to be no exception.

Cedral shiplap system C05, July - Aug 2021, Bodmin.

Kraft cladding Cornwall supplied and installed Cedral shiplap system to this property in Bodmin totalling 60m2. Our biggest transformation with the homeowners also painting the ground floor in light grey to compliment the Cedral cladding. After looking at our previous work, our customer asked for us to finish the window reveals with white pvc reveal liners opposed to Cedral boards which we feel finished the project perfectly. A fantastic transformation!

Cedral Click System C05, Newquay 27m2 (May- June)

Cedral Shiplap system C15, Newquay 42m2 (May- June)

Kraft Cladding Cornwall supplied and installed Cedral click weatherboards to this property in June. Cedral click system is slightly different to the Shiplap system as it is fixed with stainless steel clips opposed to stainless steel fixings and is a tongue and groove system which ultimately provides a more contemporary aesthetic. This property required notching of the 38 x 75 timber battens to ensure that the cladding was level over the bell-cast on both gable side elevations. We were extremely pleased with the outcome of this work as was our customer.

We also supplied and installed Cedral shiplap system C15 to a neighbouring bungalow in the same road and picture framed the window to the customers request. Upon survey we always give our customers the choice of finish as we feel this is the most important part of Cladding and our work.

Cedral Shiplap C08 Sand Yellow - Saint Austell. (April-May 2021)

At the end of March/early April we supplied and installed 92m2 of Cedral Shiplap cladding in C08, Sand yellow. With most properties being cladded in different variants of Grey it was nice to install a totally different colour! With the property being so close to the sea the colour was reminiscent of Cornish beach huts! We removed and disposed of the concrete hanging tiles on the front elevation and re battened to level to suit the installation of the Cedral cladding. Due to the windows sitting flush with the exterior render, we finished the windows with white mini reveal liners as there were no window reveals to install Cedral Asymmetrical corner trims/C08 boards. The customer was pleased with this finish and felt that the window finish complemented the cladding well.

Larcombe road, Saint Austell. 110m2 of Silver-Grey Marley Cedral Shiplap cladding. (FEBRUARY-MARCH 2021)

We supplied and installed Cedral lap silver-grey to this property in Larcombe road, Saint Austell. Due to the bell cast protruding up to 5mm on most elevations, our tannalised battens had to be notched to level to ensure that the boards were level and fixed tight to the battens across all elevations. The customer requested that opposed to the windows reveals being finished with Asymmetrical corner trims, he would prefer them to be finished with White reveal liners - as shown on Page 14 of the Cedral brochure. We also installed white pvc cill extensions to provide a minimum of 40mm overhang, which ensured the cladding was water tight.

We feel the white pvc reveal liners really complements the Silver-Grey cladding and that the customer made a good decision with the window reveals.
Overall the customer was very happy with the outcome of our work as were we.

The customer was very pleased with our work and the price that we gave. The customer also chose to have no external Celotex insulation. Small section of Cedral Shiplap cladding C05, Devoran, Truro- OCT. 2019

We supplied and installed a small section of Cedral cladding to this property in Devoran, Truro after our customer was having issues with water seeping into the property via the mortar in the existing exterior stonework. We were really pleased with the transformation, and the cladding has prevented water entering seeping into the property.
